Free team generator

Split players into teams

Paste a list of names and get teams in a second: completely random, or even by skill — so the game isn’t decided before it starts. Everything happens in your browser.

You can paste the list from the bot’s card or from a chat: bullets and numbers are removed.

Teams 2

🔒 The list stays in your browser: it is not sent or saved anywhere.

How it splits

Random

Like drawing names from a hat: the list is shuffled fairly — every order is equally likely — and dealt into teams one by one. Team sizes differ by at most one player.

By skill

The strongest players go first, each to the team that is weakest at the moment; then the generator swaps players between teams while that makes the totals closer. Out of equally even splits it picks one at random — so “Shuffle again” gives a new line-up that is just as fair.

Copy for the chat

One tap copies the teams as plain text — paste it into your Telegram or WhatsApp group. Ratings stay on your screen.

Questions

How do I split players into fair teams by skill?

Choose “By skill”, rate everyone from 1 to 5 (or type “Name - 4” in the list), set the number of teams and press “Split into teams”. The generator makes the skill totals of the teams as close as possible, and the difference is shown under the teams.

Is the random team picker really random?

Yes. The list is shuffled with the browser’s cryptographic random number generator using the Fisher–Yates method, so every arrangement of players is equally likely.

What if the players don’t divide evenly?

Team sizes then differ by one player — for example, 6 and 5. In the “By skill” mode the extra player counts in the team’s total, so the smaller team usually gets stronger players.

Is my list saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser: the page doesn’t send the names anywhere and doesn’t store them. Close the tab and the list is gone. If you want to reuse the ratings, copy the list with them — “Anna - 4” — into your notes.

How do I collect the list of players in the first place?

With Docker Event Bot, a free Telegram bot: it posts an event card in your group, people tap “Join”, and the bot counts seats, keeps a waitlist and sends reminders. Before the game, copy the list from the card and split it here.
